Ally McIntosch & James Coughlin are the principal architects involved with this project with the finishing touches provided by Nick Norton.

This is a bunker project that has created, in our humble opinion, the most tasteful and stylish links bunkers recently built on any links land in British or Ireland. It will be complimented by the creation of some new greens to further enhance the course in the final phase.

The project has been wholeheartedly accepted and recognised as a huge improvement to the course by the members of the club.

The great success of the project is also in great measure down to the skill and dedication of the father and son green-keepers (Declan & Jason Kelly) and their team. In particular their excellence in the building of sod walled elements of the bunkers is unsurpassed by any others in the world!

The reasons for such a successful project:

  • Fine well shaped traditional sod-walled links bunkers, and a tasteful hybrid style of bunker incorporating riveted turf and rough edges - typically riveted edges on the short grass areas, and rough edges where the sand flows into the rough.
  • Great shaping and finishing of the bunkers fitting to the landscape and micro contours; facilitated by the design and build method of construction allowing changes on site.
  • Excellent strategic placement of the bunkers.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellence in construction.

To gain such acclaim and feel such warmth from the members makes us exceptionally proud.
